New Delhi: Sharad Purnima or better known as Kojagiri Purnima is widely celebrated Hindu festival. Sharad which signifies autumn season of the year and Sharad Purnima is celebrated in this season.This day is celebrated to mark the birthday of the Goddess Lakshmi.
It is said if devotees stay awake all night offering special prayers to Goddess Lakshmi, Maa blesses them with wealth and prosperity, even if there is no ‘Lakshmi yog’ (no fortune) in their ‘kundli’.
On this day, if the astronomical position is checked, the moon and earth are seen very close to each other, and on this day moon shower healing properties with its rays which nourish the body and the soul due. The moon is also given special significance on Sharad Purnima, the moon comes out in sixteen different Kalas and these sixteen different ‘kalas’ are said to make a perfect human personality.
The report also suggests that the moon drops Amrit on planet earth, this day. It is also believed that moonlight on this day possesses amazing medical and nourishing properties.
Due to which some devotees put cold milk mixed with rice flakes out in the moonlight and consume it on the next day to absorb all powers showered from the moon.
