Band, baaja, baraat, dance, masti, drama, dhol dhamaka and lots of Bollywood tadka – let this wedding season begin with a bang. We bring to you some wedding blockbusters that are sure to make you dance, sing and add excitement to any Indian shaadi. Pick your favourite wedding movie from the list below:
.Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge: A Shaadi in India is incomplete without landmark songs such as 'Mehndi Laga Ke Rakhna' and 'Mere Khwabon Mein Jo Aaye'. DDLJ has become a household name as Raj & Simran have stolen many hearts. A real treat to weddings all over India and a must watch for a feel good factor.
.Vivaah: A Sooraj Barjatya movie, Vivaah traces the journey of a couple from courtship to marriage. The simplicity in the movie attracts the viewer starring a shy groom played by Shahid Kapoor and an innocent bride Amrita Rao. It found a lot of favour among people, especially those living in the interiors of India.
.Hum Aapke Hai…Koun! : This movie supplied us with pretty much our entire wedding playlist, for example classics like Joote do paise lo, Didi tera dewar deewana, dhik tana dhik tana, etc. Not only that, ladies were lining up at their tailors to get the classic purple lehenga choli that was worn by Madhuri Dixit in one of the songs in the movie.
.Daawat-e-Ishq: A disillusioned salesgirl (Parineeti Chopra) and a chef (Aditya Roy Kapoor) cook up a spicy romance that is sure to impress you. A love story with a happy ending, the movie successfully highlights the social stigma of dowry our society is plastered in. A confidence booster for every girl when she reaches a marriage age.
.Band Baaja Baaraat: It's all in the name! The movie highlights the woes of planning a wedding and a sneak into the hustle and bustle life of a wedding planner. The madness of finalising a venue shortlisting on the decorations and what it takes to organise a big fat Indian wedding, is what Band Baaja Baaraat is all about. The lively Anushka Sharma and the dynamic Ranveer Singh add exuberance to the movie.
.Ek Vivah Aisa Bhi: It is a 2009 Bollywood romantic drama film. Isha Koppikar’s performance as a dutiful sister who puts her own marriage and singing career on hold to raise her two younger siblings when their father passes away suddenly.
.Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi: The catchy tune of this movie is played by all bandwalas at every baraat. A remake of the Hollywood movie My Best Friend's Wedding, Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai stars Uday Chopra, Jimmy Shergill, Tulip Joshi and Bipasha Basu. It was a light entertainer and turned out to be a surprise success at the box office. Shamita Shetty's chartbuster item number Sharara is still popular.
.Hum Saath Saath Hai: Although the movie talks about the benefits of a joint family, we felt that we had to include it in the list solely because it is a Rajshri production. Actually no, the movie has as many as 4 total weddings, and plenty of other meaningless rituals associated with weddings, like engagement ceremonies, honeymoon sequences, which warrants a mention in the list of top ten Bollywood movies about weddings
.Shuddh Desi Romance: A new age romance in an old historical town! Shuddh Desi Romance is about a tour guide who also works as a baraati-on-hire. At his own wedding, he develops cold feet and runs away from the wedding mandap leaving his to-be bride in the lurch. An entertaining movie that stars Parineeti Chopra and debutant Vaani Kapoor alongside TV actor turned Film actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
.Mere Brother Ki Dulhan: What happens when a youngster falls in love with his brother's bride-to-be? A fun loving musical rom com from the world of producer Aditya Chopra and director Ali Abbas Zafar. Imran Khan, Katrina Kaif and Ali Zafar are fun on screen and we love it!
