LIVE Rahul in Kerala: Rahul Gandhi meets people in relief camps

New Delhi,  August 28, News24 Bureau: Rahul Gandhi visits a relief camp in Chengannur. He is on a 2-day visit to the flood-hit Kerala. Here are the LIVE updates:

-Congress President Rahul Gandhi felicitates fishermen in Alappuzha who carried out rescue operations during Kerala Floods 

-Congress President Rahul Gandhi made way for an air ambulance to take off in Kerala's Chengannur, today. He is on a two-day tour to the flood affected areas in Kerala. 

Earlier it was reported: 

Congress President Rahul Gandhi will be in Kerala on Tuesday and Wednesday to visit the flood-ravaged state and console the victims who have witnessed one of the biggest calamities in the present times. He plans to visit victims in relief camps and will also visit the farmers whose crops have been submerged in flood waters leaving their financial condition in tatters.

-Congress President Rahul Gandhi arrives at Trivandrum airport. He will be visiting flood-hit regions in the state including Chengannur, Alappuzha and Angamaly later today. He will also visit flood-affected areas in Wayanad district tomorrow.  

Gandhi took to his twitter handle and informed thus:“I will be in Kerala tomorrow and the day after, visiting flood-hit areas and relief camps in the state. I will also meet with fishermen, volunteers and others who have been working tirelessly & selflessly to help those in need,” he said in a tweet.
Rahul Gandhi will reach Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday and then visit the affected areas of Angamaly, Chengannur and Alappuzha.njh

Rahul Gandhi had wished the people of the state on Onam, the state’s harvest festival. He had expressed his solidarity with the state’s people. “This is a difficult time for the people of Kerala. In relief camps and homes across the state, people are grieving for their loved ones. On this Onam let us pledge to put aside our differences, stand united together and focus on the task of #RebuildingKerala,” he had tweeted on Friday.
