Maharashtra: Devendra Fadnavis' govt may go for cabinet reshuffle next week

Mumbai: The Devendra Fadnavis government is all set to expand the cabinet next week which may also witness a major cabinet reshuffle. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will also take a decision on who will handle the eight portfolios which were left vacant following the ouster of land scam accused Eknath Khadse from the state cabinet.

According to sources, co-operation minister Chandrakant Patil, who has proximity with BJP president Amit Shah, may get the crucial revenue portfolio while the state minister for home (rural) Ram Shinde may get agricultural portfolio as he is also up for promotion.

Its main ally turned enemy Shiv Sena has increased the woes of BJP by demanding a cabinet portfolio at a time when the CM Fadnavis and Gadkari Camp seek to induct their own ministers in the cabinet.

Within the BJP, MLA Pandurang Phundkar, Jaykumar Rawal, Ashish Shelar are seeking ministerial births while in Shiv Sena camp, MLA Arjun Khotkar, Sunil Prabhu and Gulabrao Patil are also eyeing ministerial berth.

Meanwhile, the two-day meeting of the BJP state executive will take place in Pune on June 18-19.
