New Delhi: On Mahatma Gandhi's 68th death anniversary today, country pays homage to the father of the nation.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday paid his obeisance to the great man, he tweeted “पूज्य बापू की पुण्यतिथि पर उनको शत् शत् नमन। Salutations to beloved Bapu on his Punya Tithi.”
The chief advocate of non-violence Mahatma Gandhi, was born on October 2, 1869 and was assassinated on January 30, in the year 1948.
Many programmes will be organised today to mark the occasion. All-religion prayers will be held in Rajghat at Mahatma Gandhi's memorial.
President Pranab Mukherjee, Vice President Mohd Hamid Ansari, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, and the three service Chiefs will lay wreaths at the memorial.
