Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) managed to win five of the 13 wards for which by-polls were held on May 15. With this victory AAP has also made a dent in BJP's hold on Delhi's civic body and reduced the party to only 3 wards. The result also brought some cheer for Congress which won 4 wards.
The by-polls result could turn out to be disppointing for AAP as the party was expecting to replicate its assembly election performance. AAP leader Dilip Pandey said, "We expected to win more seats, but we are still number one in this round."
One ward has been won by an independent candidate.
