Meet the CONSTABLE who wrote Kala Chashma for Katrina

New Delhi, Oct 3: Katrina's Kaif 'Kala Chashma' is setting the social media on fire even one year after its release. It has just recorded 30 crore view of YouTube. You too must have heard the song and may have shaken your leg too, but do you know who wrote the song? You will be shocked to know the lyricist.

Well, the story is that this chartbuster song was originally written as a Punjabi song in the 1990s. Thanks to movie ‘Baar Baar Dekho', starring Katrina Kaif and Sidharth Malhotra, it only became a rage in 2016. And, here comes the shocker. The writer is a head constable in Punjab Police currently, and his name is  Amrik Singh Shera. He wrote the song when he was just 15. He comes from Talwandi Chaudhrian village near Jalandhar.

He is happy that his song is a household name now, but he regrets that nobody invited him to Bollywood last year for the launch.  “No one from the film industry called me to Mumbai during the music launch or screening of the film. I just wanted to go there and let everyone know that a person from a small village in Punjab has written the song,” he was quoted as saying last year.

Sharing details, Shera said that he wrote the song when we was in Class IX. At that point of time . He had approached many singers then with his songs, and managed partial success. “Amar Arshi (singer of the song) then took the song ‘Kala Chashma’ and performed it at a function in England. A company there released the song in England and it became a huge hit,” he added.

You may not have noticed, but Shera tells you an interesting fact about the song. “If you listen to ‘Kala Chashma’ carefully, in the last stanza I have mentioned my village Talwandi Chaudhrian’s name,” the policeman said. With this, he managed to achieve what he wanted- making his village famous via his songs.
