Barcelona: FC Barcelona confirmed on Thursday that Spain international midfielder Sergio Busquets has extended his contract with the football club until the end of June 2021 with the option for it to be extended by a further two years.
Busquets has made 250 league appearances in a total of 390 matches with the Barcelona first team after graduating through their youth system, reports Xinhua.
During that time he has won six La Liga and three Champions League titles, as well as four Spanish Cups and several Spanish and European Supercups.
The new contract includes a buyout clause and means the midfielder will almost certainly see out his entire career with the club he made his debut for in September 2008.
Busquets was substituted just five minutes into the second half of Barcelona's 1-1 draw against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday suffering from a fever.
But he will be fit to travel to play Sporting Gijon on Saturday in the sixth round of La Liga.
