Surat: A mob of around 40 people set two state transport buses on fire in Surat’s Sarthana area a day after Patidar quota row protagonist Hardik Patel launched indefinite hunger strike in jail.
According to reports, supporters of the Patel quota row stopped the buses in morning hours and set them ablaze after asking passengers to get down.
No one was injured in the incident.
The Gujarat Police have registered an FIR against unidentified persons; however, no arrests have been made so far.
Hardik launched the fast at Lajpore jail, where he has been lodged since September in two sedition cases.
The quota stir, also known as Patel Anamat Andolan, under Hardik had sparked large scale violence in the state last year, prompting clamping of curfew in many areas of the state.
