Chennai: Prices of Thoor dal, Urad dal,
moong dal, gram dal and maida went up, while sugar declined in
the wholesale foodgrains market in the week that ended today.
All other commodities ruled steady.
Yesterday, all markets were closed on account of bandh on
Cauvery issue,in Tamil Nadu.
Thoor dal opened the week at Rs.11,500, the same as its
previous rate and moved up to Rs.12,000 on Wednesday and ended
at the same rate.
Urad dal and moong dal went up by Rs.700 and Rs.200
per quintal each to Rs.12,200 and Rs.7,700 today from its last
week's closing rate of Rs.11,500 and Rs.7,500 respectively.
Gram dal decreased by Rs.100 per quintal to Rs.9,500 on
Wednesday from last week's closing rate of Rs 9,600 and went
up to Rs 10,000 today.In addition, Maida (90 kg) rose by
Rs.100 to Rs.2,700 from its previous rate of Rs.2,600.
Sugar declined by Rs.50 to Rs.3,850 from Rs.3,900.
Wheat (Rs.2,900) and Sooji (90 kg) (Rs.3,200) ruled
steady during the whole week.
