Na'pak' intentions of Pak thwarted: Terrorists could not enter Baramulla camp, 2 killed; 1 BSF jawan martyred

Asif Suhas, Baramulla (Jammu & Kashmir): Pakistan has refused to fall in line even after the Indian surgical strikes in PoK. On Sunday night Pak-trained suicide bombers attacked 46 RR Army camp and 40 Battalion BSF Camp in Baramulla. Two terrorists were killed in the gun battle at Army camp. One BSF jawan was martyred in the exchange of fire at the BSF Camp, while one was injured. Both camps are about a kilometre apart on each side of river Jhelum.

At about 10:20 pm on Sunday  two groups of Pakistan-trained suicide bombers attacked the 46 RR camp and BSF camp simultaneously. the BSF camp, on the Srinagar-Muzzafarad highway, was attacked from the front. While the 46RR camp was attacked from the rear. Gun battle lasted for about two hours

When the terrorists were trying to cross the second fencing at the RR camp, the sentry saw them and opened fire. The already alert soldiers then exchanged fire with the terrorists, killing two heavily armed terrorists. Three soldiers were injured in the firing.  Army camp is located in Old Baramulla town and is very close to a residential area and a stadium. Local support for giving terrorist a hideout before attack is being suspected.

At the BSF camp the terrorists were seen moving towards the arm depot. In the exchange of fire two jawans were injured, one succumbed to injuries while on the way to hospital. fate of the terrorists at the BSF camp was not known. It is being suspected they may well be hiding inside the camp or escaped under the cover of darkness or may have been killed.

Security forces have surrounded the area and search operation is on to hunt down the terrorists. An intelligence alert has indicated prsence of more than 10 suicide bombers in Baramulla. The alert is based on intercept between the terrorists and their Pakistani handlers, in which the handlers were directing the terrorists to attack 4 places in 4 groups.
