Sidhu hits AAP for a six, floats new front

New Delhi: Cricketer turned politician Navjot Singh Sidhu on Friday formed a new political party Aawaaz-e-Punjab along with Pargat Singh and Bains brothers. His wife Navjot Kaur Sidhu told media that Sidhu will hold a press conference on September 8th to spell out details about the new front.

Balwinder Singh Bains and Simarjit Singh Bains are independent MLAs, while Pargat Singh is a hockey player turned politician. There had been speculation over whether Sidhu would continue to be a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party and would join Aam Aadmi Party since he resigned as a Rajya Sabha MP on July 18. The 53-year-old had said he had stepped down as he had been asked to stay away from Pujab.

However, AAP chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday said the former parliamentarian had not put forward any pre-conditions for joining the party.
