Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will undergo open-heart surgery on May 31 in London and expected to stay there in the hospital for a week, said officials. As of now, Mr Sharif has been in London for his medical checkup.
Confirming the report, Defence Minister of Pakistan Khawaja said doctors have advised Mr Sharif open-heart surgery. After the surgery, the PM will likely to stay in the hospital for a week and then return to Pakistan only after doctor's permission, according to Dawn online.
According to reports, Prime Minister Sharif had a cardiac procedure – ‘Atrial Fibrillation Ablation’ – in 2011, during which certain complications happened which resulted in heart perforation.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has conveyed his best wishes to his Pakistani counterpart. Modi tweeted, "My best wishes to PM Nawaz Sharif for his open heart surgery on Tuesday. And for his speedy recovery and good health."
