NDIM Tughlakabad was stage to various events at its annual feast –SPANDAN 2016. Spandan, a 3 day festival organized from 10th March 2016 to 12th March 2016 provided an environment for students to network and generate ideas, business plans and display their creative and intellectual talents while competing amongst the best in the educational institutes of the country. The Events which are held during Spandan were Business Quiz, IT Quiz, Group Dance, Street Play, Sing competition, Business Plan, Fashion Show, Ad-Mad Show, Case Challenge, Debate, Zero Fashion, Rock Band Competition, Stand-up Comedian, RJ Hunt, Bulls and Bears, Best Manager, LAN Gaming and various CSR events, carried out by our Yogdan Club.
NDIMs Yogdaan Club - For the first time initiated one of its kind event that never happened before on the campus Kabaad se Jugaad (Waste Management) An event based on the “Reduce Recycle Reuse” initiative. The idea was to create something unique out of scrap material, putting creativity to test. Where many colleges with more than 30 teams participated in the event.
Zero Fashion too had an important role to be played. Zero Fashion were style and innovation meets sustainability. Sustainable Fashion also known as eco fashion is the part of growing philosophy and trend of sustainability, the goal of which is to create a system which can be supported indefinitely in terms of environmentalism and social responsibility. Reduce, reuse, recycle has added on with repair, rebuild, refurbish. Zero Fashion gave a platform to brain storm and design a couture which can be reused and reduce the burden of municipality.
The judge for zero fashion was Atika Garhwal, a qualified professional with experience in Fashion industry, predominantly in designing and styling. Currently spearheading at Manav Gangwani Couture, New Delhi. Worked as assistant designer for Wills India Fashion Week, involved in conceptualizing, designing and developing collections for Couture weeks, IIFA and other major fashion events, designing and styling for shoots of fashion week and other seasonal collections. Her presence was of great value at the event and a great help to all the participants who were given valuable feedback and guidance on their performance.
There were seven teams participating in the event from top colleges of Delhi University. The first prize for the event was awarded to Dayal Singh College who made there dress material from paper and waste reused, they showed their creativity in making a black skirt, green tiara and newspaper hat out of paper which was greatly appreciated by the judge. The second prize was awarded to NDIM Tughlakabad, they used jute to make up the dress of the participants showing how sustainability can be achieved with style using jute. The third winner of the event was YMCA with their dress made of disposable plastics. Remaining teams were from NDIM Okhla and NDIM Tughlakabad. All the winning teams were awarded during the third day of SPANDAN at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium followed by the celebrity night enjoyed by all.
The event was a great success with proper coordination by all the people who put in long hours of struggle for its success. Dr. Sadia Samar Ali the faculty coordinator was in with all her efforts for the success of the event. The event had a final walk by all the models, followed by the participation certificate given and the photos session of the event. It was a great end to many months of hard work by all the people at NDIM, with all equally to be praised for the grand success of SPANDAN.
