News24 hunts down the absconding BSP MP's son; uncle tells where he is hiding

New Delhi, Oct 17, News24 Bureau: Former BSP MP's son Aashish Pandey against whom a case has been registered for brandishing a gun in Delhi's Hyatt Regency is absconding. News24 tried to reach out to his family in its search for the spoilt brat. His uncle Pavan Pandey talked to News24 over a phone and confirmed that Aashish is living in Ambedkar Nagar, Akbarpur. He further said that his nephew is not absconding and that the police have not yet come looking out for him.Pandey further said that they are consulting their lawyer and that in all probability Aashish will surrender tomorrow. 

Meanwhile, the girls who were with Aashish, and were not Indian, have left the country.The incident took place around 72 hours back and Aasish is still out in open and has not been arrested.Delhi police suspect that the former BSP MP's son who brandished a gun and threatened a woman at a five-star hotel here may leave India. The police have alerted all airports in the country to arrest the culprit. A Delhi Police team has reached Lucknow residence of Ashish Pandey, son of former Bahujan Samaj Party MP Rakesh Pandey. His brother, Ritesh Pandey, is a sitting MLA from Jalalpur in Ambedkar Nagar, UP. Based in Lucknow, the accused is in real estate business.The Delhi Police has also hinted at action against the five-star hotel for not informing the police about the incident. "Police took suo moto cognizance of the incident.No complaint was lodged by the victim and the hotel staff on the same day. There is negligence on the part of three parties- the victim, hotel authorities and the accused," said Joint Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) Ajay Chaudhary said. "The police have registered a case. We are coordinating with the UP Police and teams are looking out for him. We have added the relevant sections based on the video. A Look Out Circular has been opened up for him," he added."Ashish Pandey does not live in Delhi. He lives in Lucknow. We have sent a team to Lucknow to locate the man," a police officer said. A case under the Arms Act has been registered against Ashish Pandey.  The hotel later issued a clarification that security of guests is of extreme importance and is cooperating with local police in the investigation.    A video showing Ashish Pandey holding a pistol in his hand and catching the other man's collar with his left went viral on the video. In the video, Ashish Pandey and his friends can be heard abusing a man who used the ladies' washroom, the police said.  In the video, the suspect is joined by a woman friend who also threatens the victim. The video was shot by a woman who was sitting in Ashish's BMW car. "A man with a gun hurled abuses at us and walked up threateningly. I was intimidated and scared. The hotel staff were present at the spot. They tried to intervene but could not as they were also scared," the victim was quoted as saying.Meanwhile, BSP has distanced itself from the incident. "Whosoever he is, a proper investigation should be done and action should be taken. The incident doesn't have any connection with BSP. He is neither a leader nor a member of BSP," BSP leader Sudhindra Bhadoria.
