Nitish uses Shahabuddin to cut Lalu to size

Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is smartly using Mohammed Shahabuddin to counter Lalu's growing interference in running the state government.

Nitish Kumar's party, JD (U), has launched a scathing attack on partner Lalu Yadav's RJD. JD (U) has asked for the direct intervention of Lalu Yadav after RJD Vice-President Raghuvansh Prasad Singh had seconded Mohammed Shahabuddin's jibe referring Nitish Kumar as "Chief Minister of circumstances".

"The responsibility of following 'coalition dharma' lies with Lalu Yadav as much as it lies with Nitish Kumar. It's is not an ordinary party worker, but RJD vice-president who had made an unacceptable comment, so Lalu Yadav must restrain his party members and direct them to follow the 'coalition dharma'," JD (U) said in a press conference here on Monday.

Referring to recently released mafia don Shahabuddin, JD (U) said it would not like to give importance to those keep going to jail for crimes. It is being also seen as Nitish's way of telling Lalu that the mandate was not for Lalu alone, but for the Lalu-Nitish combo.
