New Delhi: No first information report (FIR) has been lodged against Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) chief Maulana Masood Azhar, who has been accused of masterminding Pathankot terror attack.
Sources told Times of India that contrary to the claims in the Pakistan media, Masood Azhar has not been detained.
While three low-level JeM members have been detained in Pakistan, none of the detentions were in connection with respect to the Pathankot attack.
Also, there have been reports from Pak media suggesting a crackdown on Jaish terrorists, however, no credible proof suggesting such an action has been reported so far.
Earlier, law minister of Pakistan’s Punjab province also said that Azhar has been taken into “protective custody”. However, he clarified that Masood Azhar would be arrested only when his involvement in Pathankot terror attack will ‘be proved beyond doubt’.
Indian intelligence now suspects that the news of JeM chief’s arrest could be more of a “misinformation,” TOI wrote.
