NRC is impartial, this is a draft and not the final list, no need to panic: assures HM Rajnath Singh

New Delhi, July 30, News24 Bureau: Much hue and cry is being raised as the National Register of Citizes, the NRC today published the list with names of with more than 40 lakh residents of the state not included in the list.The NRC is a list of Assam's citizens and it is being updated under the direction of the Supreme Court."I want to ask the Opposition, what is the Centre's role in this? It is happening under the supervision of the Supreme Court. Such sensitive issues should not be politicized, said HM Rajnath Singh in Lok Sabha on NRC list in Assam. Home Minister Rajnath Singh today said the draft National Register of Citizens for Assam is completely "impartial" and those whose names are not included shouldn't panic as they will get an opportunity to prove their Indian citizenship.   "No coercive action will be taken against anyone. Hence, there is no need for anyone to panic," he told reporters here.Some people are unnecessarily trying to create an atmosphere of fear. This is a completely impartial report. No misinformation should be spread.This is a draft and not the final list, assured the Home Minister."Even someone whose name is not in the final list can approach the foreigners tribunal. No coercive action will be taken against anyone, hence there is no need for anyone to panic, " said Home Minister Rajnath SinghEven someone whose name is not in the final list can approach the foreigner's tribunal, Singh said.Trinamool Congress is wary of this list as it may affect its vote bank as well.

SS Roy senior leader of TMC said, "Central Govt has intentionally eliminated more than 40 lakh religious and linguistic minorities from NRC(National Register of Citizens) which will have serious ramifications on the demography of different states adjoining Assam, PM should come to house and clarify it.

Senior Congress leader and Assam Congress Chief Ripun Bora spoke party's mind on  NRC Assam draft, "40 lakh names ineligible is a very high figure and very surprising. There are a lot of irregularities in the report. We will raise this issue with the Govt and in the Parliament. A political motive of BJP is also behind this."
