Pak envoy visits ailing Hurriyat leader Geelani in Delhi hospital

New Delhi: Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit visited ailing separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani at a hospital in Delhi and conveyed best wishes to him.

"High Commissioner of Pakistan Mr Abdul Basit on instructions from Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif visited Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani at a Delhi hospital and conveyed to him best wishes and prayers" on behalf of the Premier and the people of Pakistan, Press Counsellor at the Pakistan High Commission said.

A 'Quran Khawani' (recitation of Quran) was also held at the Pakistan High Commission with special prayers for Geelani's health, Manzoor Ali Memon, he added.

Meanwhile, Pak PM Nawaz Sharif on Thursday wished a speedy recovery for the harline Hurriyat leader. In a message on behalf of his people as well on his behalf, Sharif "prayed for full and speedy recovery of Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani." 

Former Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah too prayed his "speedy recovery".

Senior Hurriyat Conference leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani was admitted to Max Hospital in Saket on Thursday after he complained of breathlessness. His condition was described as stable by the doctors.
