Pathankot attack: Commonwealth gold medalist martyred

New Delhi: Ace shooter Subedar Major Fateh Singh was among the bravehearts who died fighting terrorists in Pathankot terror attack on Saturday.

51-year old army man Singh won gold medal in Big Bore Rifle Three Position event and a silver medal in Big Rifle Prone Position in commonwealth shooting championship at the army shooting ranges in New Delhi in 1995.

Singh, who was a part of Army’s Marksmanship Unit (AMU), retired from 15 Dogra regiment in 2009 and joined Defence Security Corps (DSC). He was initially posted at Army War College in Mhow and was transferred to Pathankot two years ago.

He is survived by his wife Madhu Bala and sons Gurdeep Singh Deepu and Nitin Thakur.
