Pathankot attack: Grenade explodes during search operations, one jawan injured

Pathankot: A defence personnel was injured after a grenade exploded during a fresh search operation in Pathankot Airbase in Punjab on Sunday morning.

The site was being searched when the personnel accidentally set off a discarded explosive, which was reportedly hidden in bushes.

The jawan was immediately rushed for the treatment.

Meanwhile, security has been heightened around the Pathankot airbase, where five terrorists and six security defence personnels were killed following the terror attacks.

An 8-member team of National Investigation Agency (NIA) has reached Pathankot to probe the attacks.

According to reports, the attack was planned by Pak-based Jaish-e-Mohammad leader.

Also, security has been stepped up in the national capital and several states including airports, railway stations, bus stands, VIP movement zones and other vital installations.

Patrolling has also been intensified along the interstate border and vehicles are being checked thoroughly.
