Islamabad: The Pakistani team probing the attack on Indian Air Force base in Pathankot will complete its probe this week, a top official said.
"The Joint Investigation Team (JIT) will complete probe into Pathankot incident this week," Prime Minister's Special Assistant on Foreign Affairs Syed Tariq Fatemi was quoted as saying by Radio Pakistan.
Currently, there are two JITs probing the attack- a six-member investigation team constituted by the federal government on the initial probe into the January 2 attack based on the leads given by India, and a five-member team constituted by the Pak-Punjab government after an FIR was lodged by Punjab Counter-Terrorism department in Gujranwala police station.
Meanwhile, Adviser to Pak PM on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz has revealed that one of the mobile phone numbers linked to the Pathankot airbase attackers had been traced to the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) group’s headquarters in Bahawalpur, the Dawn reported.
India has named JeM chief Masood Azhar as the mastermind of the deadly attack.
According to reports, Azhar has been in “protective custody” since January 14.
