Pathankot attacks: Atleast 2 terrorists holed up inside IAF base

Pathankot: Fresh firing was reported at the Indian Air Force base at Pathankot during combing operation on Sunday morning.

Two terrorists are holed up inside the airbase and the counter operation is underway, DIG (border) Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh told the media.

Security forces have also been deployed outside the airbase and the area has been cordoned off.

Meanwhile, an NSG commando was killed when a fresh grenade exploded during search operation on Sunday morning.

Lt Col Niranjan, a member of the NSG's Bomb Disposal Squad, was killed while he was defusing the grenade at the scene of the terror attack as part of the combing operations.

Three members of the Defence Security Corps (DSC) succumbed to injuries in the hospital on Saturday night.

Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar has briefed Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the situation and Union Home Minsiter Rajiv Mehrishi is likely to brief media on Pathankot terror attacks at 5pm today.

Also, Commissioner of the Delhi Police BS Bassi has asked the citizens to report suspicious persons, objects and activities to counter terrorism in wake of the recent terror attacks.

“Citizens' vigil against suspicious persons/objects/activities is vital to counter terrorism. Report anything amiss no. 100 or helpline 1090,” he tweeted.
