New Delhi: A couple of days after accused Bharatiya Janata Party MLA OP Sharma was caught on camera assaulting CPI leader Ameeque Jamei at Patiala House court, the Delhi police made the arrest today, but later released him on bail.
Sharma said that he was questioned for eight hours by Delhi Police, starting at 11 am on Thursday.
“In the country, people who stop others from screaming “Pakistan Zindabad”, if they have to go through this, it is shameful,” he said.
Earlier yesterday, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking action against Sharma to send a “message” to such “disruptive elements”.
Sharma, who was present at Patiala House on Tuesday to support Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley fight defamation case against Kejriwal, was caught in a video thrashing CPI leader; where a group of lawyers also assaulted journalists and Jawaharlal Nehru University students gathered for JNUSU president Kanhaiya Kumar’s hearing.
