New York: Nearly 69 per cent of people in the US are using their smartphones in restrooms with more than half of them chatting and posting on various social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter, an interesting survey has revealed. Twelve percent of respondents confessed to watching explicit material on their smartphone while in the toilet, according to the survey released by New York-based cloud online service MiMedia. Nearly 25 per cent said they had dropped their phone in the toilet, with Android users more likely to admit to such an accident than iPhone owners. About 59 per cent said they visited their social media feeds including Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat and Instagram in the restroom, tech.co reported on Wednesday, quoting the survey. Moreover, 83 per cent of people who said they used dating apps while on the toilet were men. Only women confessed they took selfies or photos while in the bathroom. In addition to that, 32 per cent admitted to shopping online and eight per cent divulged that they actually check up on their online dating profiles.
