Sony has unveiled the price, release date and specifications for its much boosted virtual reality headset at a big gaming event in San Francisco.
The PlayStation VR headset will cost $399 and will go on sale in October 2016.
During a press event on March 15, CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment, Andrew House said, "Users will enjoy a seamless experience that's straightforward to set up and accessible to all types of gamers."
PlayStation VR has a 5.7-inch OLED screen, 1920 x 1080 resolution split across both eyes, and nine LEDs that let the PlayStation Camera know where people are in the room, even if they're turned away from the console.
Sony also highlighted the number of games that will work with its system.
160 games are in development, and 50 of those - including Eagle Flight (Ubisoft),EVE: Valkyrie (CCP Games), Headmaster (Frame Interactive), Rez Infinite(Enhance Games) and Wayward Sky (Uber Entertainment) - are expected to launch by the end of this year.
Moreover, Electronic Arts, DICE and Lucasfilm are working on an all-new Star Wars Battlefront gaming experience for PlayStation VR.
According to Sony, PlayStation isn't just for gaming, there is something known as "Cinematic mode", which will let you play flat screen games or watch movies." The mode includes standard PS4 games, videos and variety of PS4 features including Share Play and Live from PlayStation.
