New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address a farmers’ rally at Kisan Kalyan Mela in Madhya Pradesh’s Sehore district on Thursday.
During the rally PM Modi will highlight his Government's initiatives for the development of the agriculture sector and welfare of farmers and release guidelines for operationalisation of the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, a crop-insurance scheme that was approved by Union Cabinet last month.
The scheme that envisages a uniform premium of 2 percent to be paid by farmers for Kharif crops, and 1.5 percent for Rabi crops, will come into effect from the upcoming Kharif season.
Under the scheme, farmers will get claims under the full sum insured without any deductions.
“Will distribute soil health cards & crop insurance settlement claims to some farmers during the programme,” a statement from PMO’s office said.
