New Delhi: With speculations about the filmmaker, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's upcoming movie 'Gustakhiyan', reports about Priyanka Chopra not being a part of the movie anymore have been around the corners.
However, PeeCee's mother, Madhu Chopra stood forward and spoke in defense and explained. In a media confrontation, she said “Priyanka was no doubt in talks with Bhansali, but the two couldn’t fit their time schedules to discuss the film. The question of co-producing would have come in only at a later stage. As of now, nothing has gone forward,”
She further explained that Priyanka never put forth a deal of co-producing movies that she was acting in “The producer and actor are two different sets of people. This is a mere speculation. He can make it on his own, why will he need a co-producer?”
Reports suggested that ideally, Priyanka was very inclined towards playing the role of Amrita Pritam in 'Gustakhiyan', which is an elegant tale of a relationship between a renowned poet, Sahir Ludhianvi, and poetess, Amrita. To this, Madhu said “It is a beautiful and coveted subject and it is good that Bhansali is making it. As a matter of fact, only a maker like Sanjay can do justice to it and he should make it,”
Earlier, Madhu had also refused to accept the reports which stated that Priyanka wanted Abhishek Bachchan to play the role of a protagonist in the movie, “She would be the last person to make such suggestions. It is Bhansali’s call. He is the captain of the ship,” she said.
Priyanka is currently in India, figuring out her scheduled projects in Bollywood. On the work front, she will next be seen in her two Hollywood flicks 'Isn't It Romantic?' and 'A Kid Like Jake'.
