Chandigarh: Border Security Force (BSF) officials on Sunday morning killed four international smugglers in Khem Karan sector near Indo-Pak border in Punjab.
BSF jawans also recovered 10 Kg of heroin from the smugglers.
Identities of the four smugglers have not been established yet. However, BSF IG Anil Paliwal told media that out of the four people killed, two were recipients from the Indian side, while other two were Pak smugglers, who supplied contraband narcotics.
This comes even as Punjab is being drugged by the drug mafias. Reports suggest that opioids worth Rs 7,500 crore are being consumed in Punjab every year. Of these, heroin has a share of Rs 6,500 crore.
Reports further suggest that almost all the heroin that comes in the state is through Pak border and is supplied by smugglers allegedly aided by ISI.
