Lucknow: Riots happen wherever Muslims are in majority, UP Minority Affairs Minister Mohsin Raza said on Friday, stoking a fresh controversy over Yogi Aditynath government's outlook towards Muslims. Raza said that this is true for Muslim majority areas in India and across the world.
Speaking at the mega News24 conclave 'Manthan With Yogi', organised to take stock of 100-days of Yogi government, Raza blamed Muslims for riots. " It is a fact that wherever Muslims are in majority riots are more frequent there. This is true for India and the world," Raza claimed. Stoking controversy further Raza said, "It is not wrong to say that cows are being slaughtered by Muslims, and in many case this leads to riots." However, he was quick to add that 'Gau Rakshaks' will not be allowed to take law in their own hands.
Praising Yogi and PM Narendra Modi, Raza said, "Muslims are most secure under Yogi in UP and under Modiji in the entire country." Lashing out at Muslim 'dharam gurus' Raza said, " It is only self-proclaimed custodians of Muslims who are facing the heat under the Modi-Yogi regime, common Muslim is satisfied and happy." Raza added that no Maulana came forward to protest when Rs 1,000-crore Waqf Board property was sold illegally.
On the issue of closure of slaughter houses, Raza explained that only illegal slaughter houses were closed. "It was not a sudden decision as it was part of BJP's Sankalp Patra, so owners of such slaughter houses had three months to close down the shops on their own," the minister added. " No true Muslim will ever support or run anything illegal, be it a slaughter house or anything else," Raza concluded.
