Security beefed up at Pathankot airbase

New Delhi: Security was beefed up in the area around the Pathankot airbase in wake of the terror attacks, which killed five terrorists and three security personnel.

Security was also stepped up in the national capital and several states including airports, railway stations, bus stands, VIP movement zones and other vital installations.

Patrolling has also been intensified along the interstate border and every vehicle entering in the state is being thoroughly checked.

Five terrorists were neutralized by security forces in an attack on the Air Force Station in Pathankot on Saturday.

Heavily armed terrorists having their allegiance to Pakistan based Jaish-e-Mohammad entered the base through a nullah gap.

According to reports, AK-47, UBGL, 52mm mortars, GPS locators were seized from their possession.

Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated for successfully neutralizing all five terrorists.

“I congratulate our armed forces and other security forces on successfully neutralising all the five terrorists in 'Pathankot Operation. Nation is proud of its brave security forces who have always rose to the occasion. I salute our forces on successful operation in Pathankot," Singh tweeted.
