In a massive blow to Asaduddin Owaisi's All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), Election Commission on Wednesday cancelled All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen's (AIMIM) Maharashtra registration as a state political party for not filing its income tax and fund details. The announcement was made by Election Commission on Wednesday. The polling body found the party violated the norms of campaigning.
The state election commission, which made this announcement on 13 July, said that the party's registration has been cancelled.
However, the party was earlier issued notices by EC asking it to submit reports failing which its registration would be cancelled.
The party was planning to contest its maiden polls in Pune in November.
