Shivpal resigns, Akhilesh declines; Mulayam may meet akhilesh today

Lucknow: Samajwadi Party supremo  Mulayam Singh Yadav is likely to meet son  and UP Chief Minister Akhilesh  Yadav  today  in the backdrop of Shivpal Yadav’s resignation on  Thursday. Some major decisions  may be taken to douse the flames threatening to decimate the party in the run up to the state assembly polls just a few months away.
On Thursday, the recently appointed  Samajwadi Party’s UP  president, and Cabinet minister in Akhilesh  Yadav Govt, Shivpal  resigned  from all  party and government posts . Shivpal tendered his resignation late evening. CM Akhilesh Yadav has not accepted the resignation 

Shortly before resigning, Shivpal  had met Akhilesh at latter’s official residence at 5, Kalidas Marg.  The meeting  lasted for just 25 minutes.  This was followed by a meeting between  Mulayam and  Akhilesh . It was after this meeting Shivpal announced his resignation.

Close aides of the former PWD minister informed that Shivpal has returned all government perks and facilities, like official staff and vehicles, and will be vacating his official residence, 7, Kalidas Marg onFriday

Earlier on Thursday, SP General Secretary, and Mulayam’s cousin  Ram Gopal Yadav had  defended  Akhilesh  terming  Akhilesh’s removal as state party chief as an inadvertent error.

Both,  Akhilesh and Ram Gopal Yadav believe that  “outsiders” are responsible for the family rift, hinting Amar Singh’s hand in the current feud.
