New Delhi/Lucknow (Sept 15): The Yadav clan ‘mukhiya’ and Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav onWednesdayfailed to broker a truce between the warring ‘chacha-bhatija’ duo. Brother Shivpal Yadav met Mulayam in Delhi for over three hours. Mulayam had called both, UP CM and son Akhilesh Yadav and Shivpal to Delhi for peace talks.
Akhilesh failed to turn up. According to sources, Shivpal has demanded that his ministries be returned back. Shivpal also conveyed to Mulayam that Akhilesh can continue as SP state chief, but his (Shivpal’s) stature should be raised to match that of Akhilesh. Shivpal is believed to have told Mulayam that removal of Chief Secretary was a direct attack on him, and this has dented his image. At an emotional level, Shivpal is said to have told his elder brother, that despite obeying his orders he (Shivpal) is being portrayed as a villain Mulayam is scheduled to meet Akhilesh on Thursday.
Once an agreement is reached between the father and son, SP’s Parliamentary Board meeting will be called to formalise the agreement. One of the peace measures being worked out is to give an important national level party position to Akhilesh.
