New Delhi, Dec 1: Is Navjot Singh Sidhu on his way out from Punjab Cabinet? The Punjab minister is under fire from his Cabinet colleagues for allgedly insulting Punjab CM Amarinder Singh by saying "Who is Captain". When questioned why he ignored Capt Amarinder Singh's advice that he should not visit Pakistan, Sidhu had said "Who is Captain, my Captain is Rahul Gandhi", adding that Rahul had sent him to Pakistan. This was seen as a dig at Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, a former captain in the Army.On Saturday, Sidhu backtracked on his claim in Hyderabad that he attended the groundbreaking ceremony in Pakistan for the Kartarpur corridor after Congress president Rahul Gandhi asked him to go. "Rahul Gandhi didn't ask me to go, I went on (Pakistan Prime Minister) Imran Khan's personal invite," Sidhu tweeted.
Despite his U-turn, his Cabinet colleagues want him to resign for portraying himself above CM Captain Amarinder. Sources said that more than 10 ministers will ask him to quit in the Cabinet meeting slated for December 3. One minister has openly demanded his resignation.
"If he does not consider Capt Amarinder as his captain then he should resign on moral grounds from the cabinet and do whatever work is assigned to him by Rahul Gandhi," Punjab cabinet minister Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa said here.Meanwhile, Sidhu's wife Navjot Kaur added fuel to fire by saying "We are not soldiers of CM saheb, We are true Congress workers"
