Chandigarh (News24 Bureau): The death toll due to deadly virus swine flu has mounted to 31 in Punjab, with seven more people losing their lives in the last four days. The patients who have died over the past three weeks belonged to Bathinda, Fatehgarh Sahib, Muktsar, Ferozepur, Faridkot, Ludhiana, Moga and Mansa. In neighbouring Haryana, the number of casualties due to the infection has been four, including three women and a total of 24 positive cases of H1N1 virus have been reported till Tuesday. The patients who have died belonged to Hisar, Fatehabad and Jind districts, said reports. All government hospitals in the two states have been directed to set up separate wards to treat patients with swine flu. An advisory has already been issued to government and private hospitals to provide immediate treatment to patients suspected to be infected by the virus without conducting tests. PGIMER, Chandigarh and Government College Amritsar are conducting free tests for influenza.
