Three Myths you need to bust about sex to your teenagers!
You think parenting gets easier they get older, however, we realize its a reverse cycle. If you couldnt get your toddler on the pot then you might have a tough time getting your teenagers off the pot! The big topic of conversation amongst your teenager and you will be SEX. The more you educate them from your side, the more peace of mind you will have. Before you have the "big talk" with them, here are three myths you need to bust with them:
1. Myth: STDs and pregnancy won’t happen to me.
Your response: You are normal to believe “it won’t happen to me” because it is a normal part of adolescence (the “personal fable”) to feel that way. But STDs and pregnancy can happen to you.
2. Myth: I feel fine – I don’t have an STD
Your response: Most people with STDs (and who spread STIs) don’t know they have an infection because they don’t have any symptoms. Teens have high rates of STDs and, again, most are without symptoms. STDs such as genital worts, herpes, gonorrhea and syphilis are quite common and have a 65% occurance rate amongst teenagers.
3. Myth: If the condom breaks, I just put another one on.
My response: Pre-Ejaculation liquid contains sperm so this is not a reliable method of contraception.
