Tit-for-Tat: Pakistan expels Bangladeshi diplomat

Islamabad: Pakistan has asked Bangladesh to withdraw one of its senior diplomats from Islamabad days after the expulsion of a Pakistani envoy over accusations of having links with a banned Islamic extremist group.

Pakistan’s foreign ministry has issued an order to recall Moushumi Rahman from its high commission in Islamabad within 48 hours.

Rahman indulged in 'anti-state activities in Pakistan' and that concerned security agencies continued to monitor her, the Dawn reported.

Pakistan’s apparent retaliation comes after Islamabad had recalled one of its diplomats, Farina Arshad, from Bangladesh at Dhaka’s request in December.

Bangladesh however has deplored Pak’s counter-action saying, “This appears to be a face-saving move in the part of Pakistan as it was forced to recall a diplomat of theirs.”
