Triple murders shock Delhi; family strangled to death

New Delhi: Under mysterious circumstances, a family of three were found dead in their third room flat in old Rajendra Nagar; suspiciously strangled to death, police observed on Sunday.

The bodies of 48-year old woman and her 25-year old son were first noticed by their domestic help at about 8.50 Sunday morning, the police said. She raised an alarm, after which a team of police arrived the spot.

The head of family, Sanjay, was found missing. This caused the police to suspect that he was behind the murder of his wife and son. However, upon thorough inspection of the apartment, his body was found shoved inside a cupboard.

“There is a possibility that they were murdered last evening and the information was received today morning. The house was ransacked so we are taking this angle into consideration,” said the joint commissioner of police, S K Gautam adding that nothing is clear as of now.

Meanwhile, the needle of suspicion points towards the possibility of property dispute as a motive behind the incident, given the profession of Sanjay in property dealings. A police official asserted that someone known to family might have been involved.

The investigation is still underway, and police are questioning the near ones of the deceased family.
