Agra: After Army, BSF, CRPF now it is turn of the police. A constable of the able of the UP police has posted a video alleging harassment at the hands of his seniors. In the video, constable Sarvesh Chaudhary has said that his harassment is similar to the one during the British Raj. has also questioned the continuation of Terming the Police Act of 1861 as "Kala Kanoon", Sarvesh has questioned the existence of the Act.
The constable, who is posted in Etah, hails from Mathura. Addressing Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in the video Sarvesh says, "I'm constable of 2011 batch and have been transferred five times, besides being suspended two-three times."
He also alleged that once he was asked by a clerk in the department for a bribe of Rs 5,000 for release of his own pay slip. He goes on to say that when he reported the incident to SSP, he was suspended, but no action was taken against the clerk.Claiming that he hasn't received his salary for one year of his suspension period, he says "Isn't this sheer harassment?".
"We work for 24 hours duty, sometimes without food, have no quarters to live, and no leave," he said explaining plight of fellow policemen.He wants that police services should be on par with the Army."While they get pension and other facilities, we are deprived of all," he said.
He has appealed to the PM to look into the problems faced by policemen. (News24Bureau)
