Kanpur: Star cricketer Virat Kohli follows a rich and healthy diet for maintaining his health and fitness. The Indian test skipper enjoys to gorge on high protein diet which includes lean meat, boiled vegetables and salmon. The cricketer's love for fitness has also received widespread public attention. The popularity of his diet regimen has increased so much that even the team players are also demanding the same diet of grilled chicken, a paneer dish and a blender at all the grounds so that they do not have to eat oily Indian foods and aerated drinks during practice session or on match days.
The diet that Kohli follows received thumbs up from all team mates and now BCCI ensures sending a mail to all the venues prior to the New Zealand series and brief them about the team's high-protein dietary requirements.
Kohli said that staying fit is the most crucial thing for a cricketer if he wants to succeed at the international arena as the fit body and fresh mind help in improving performance.
“We work on our fitness levels so that the body can support what we want to do in the middles. To bat through the whole day, or two days, you need a fit physique and that's what the boys have been working on and it's been going really good. That has certainly improved our focus levels and we have been able to play out difficult situations in the best way possible," said Kohli.
A BCCI official said, “While grilled chicken and paneer are important sources of protein, the demand for a blender comes from the fact that even the best packaged fruit juices may contain sugar and carbohydrates in them and Kohli likes his juice fresh.”
