Virendra Sehwag to make his TV debut!

New Delhi:  Television seems to have opened opportunities for newcomers and sportsmen. Many sportsmen turn hosts and commentators for matches on TV and latest is batsman Virender Sehwag. 

The sportsman has turned host for Epic channel’s new show called ‘Umeed India’. The former cricketer was in news over the controversial selection of head coach for Indian cricket team but he’s is starting a new chapter in his career with his TV debut. This reality show will highlight and witness conditions, problems, and preparation of Indian players to be Olympians. 'Umeed India' is an emotional and inspirational journey of Indian athletes that will be curated by Virendra. The show shoot has finished and will air on Epic channel. It’s written by R D Telang who is the writer of the iconic show 'Kaun Banega Crorepati'. The show will have 13 contestants who will be trained for the big contest. For Umeed India, Sehwag traveled to places across India where athletes are priming for success. Prepping the narrative with his personal journey and anecdotes, he explores the ambitions, aspirations, and struggles of the best sportspeople of India.

The show also includes sports stars like the Freestyle Wrestler and Olympic medalist Sakshi Malik, Paralympian Swimmer Suyash Yadav, Shot Put player Om Prakash Karhana, Sprinter Dutee Chand, Judoka Avtar Singh, Wrestler Vinesh Phogat, Rower Dattu Bhokanal, among others, who are aiming for glory at Olympics 2020.
