Wah..Ram, Sita on Muslim wedding card

Lucknow, May 2: Communal harmony in times of hatred. A perfect example of this was shown by a Muslim family in Sultanpur. in a mark of respect for the Hindu religion, the Muslim family got pictures of Lord Rama and Goddess Sita on a 'nikaah' card.

The nikaah card sent to Hindus has pictures of Ram and Sita standing beside a ceremonial fire. Not only the pictures of God, the card also carries photos of traditional Hindu items of pooja- kalash, lamps, banana leaves, and ‘puja thali’ with coconut, flowers and fruits. “I wish to bridge the gap between the religious beliefs of Hindus and Muslims. It is a goodwill gesture for my Hindu brothers who also respect our religion with their heart. If we respect their religious personalities, they will definitely show respect for the Muslim community,” Mohammad Saleem was quoted as saying by The Times of India. It is Saleem who got the card designed for his daughter's marriage.

The residents of Saleem's village, Baghsarai in Sultanpur, are all praise for his unique gesture to spread communal harmony “By printing the photographs of Lord Ram and Mother Sita, Saleem bhai has proven how much Muslims respect the Hindu religion. Moreover, no one from the Muslim community has criticised this act of Saleem. This is highly appreciable,” says Saleem's neighbour Radhey Shyam Tiwari.
