Melbourne: Proving his batting mettle once again, Chris Gayle smashed a 12-ball half century and equalled Indian batsman Yuvraj Singh's 2007 record while playing against Adelaide Strikers in a Big Bash League semifinal match in Melbourne on Monday.
The Melbourne Renegades opener's 56-run innings saw seven sixes and two fours.
Gayle also broke Big Bash record for the fastest fifty, which was jointly held by Tim Ludeman and Chris Lynn, who scored the feat in 18 deliveries.
Yuvraj Singh had set the record against England at the 2007 T-20 World Cup in Durban. Yuvraj's blistering knock was adorned with six sixes in an over.
