New Delhi, Oct 17: The entire country may be celebrating Dhanteras, but there are sobbing tales of starvation and deaths, which dims the light of celebrations and happiness.
The Central Government's decision to link Aadhar Card to avail of the subsidized food grains from ration shops turned fatal when Koyli Devi was turned away and denied her share of ration as her ration card was not linked to her Aadhar card.
Mother's version will bring tears even in the eyes of the most stone-hearted ones. "I went to get rice but I was told that no ration will be given to me. My daughter died saying 'Bhat-bhat', says a broken Koyli Devi, girl's mother.
A 11-yr-old girl allegedly died of starvation in Simdega after her family didn't receive ration under PDS due to non-linking of Aadhaar.
Politicians have come forward to save their skin, as expected. "Clear instructions that ration shouldn't be denied to those who haven't linked ration card with Aadhaar," says Minister in charge of Food and Civil Supplies.
Hastily he adds, "Will look into this, and will also send a reminder of my orders on distribution of ration.
