Why Bollywood is quiet on Elphinstone stampede?

New Delhi: Bollywood which is always seen in high synergy and always comes in support of social issues is quiet and mum now over Elphinstone stampede here on Friday.

Be it Amitabh Bachchan or Rishi Kapoor or Deepika Padukone, all these high profiles have taken an altogether indifferent approach and have not tweeted a single word on this tragic issue. Whereas these celebrities are always seen in support of such issues. So why are they silent on this issue when it has taken place in their own city.

If Aamir Khan and Priyanka Chopra twitter handle is checked, they are busy promoting themselves or their movies and brands but sidelined the tragic incident of their own city.

Earlier on Friday at least 22 commuters were killed in a stampede on a narrow railway footover bridge connecting the Parel-Elphinstone Road stations of Western Railway.

At least 24 others were injured, six of them critically, and casualty figures could rise, the BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Disaster Control said. The victims were shifted to the KEM Hospital in Parel. The cause of the stampede was not known, but witnesses claimed that a sudden rumour of a suspected electrical short-circuit sparked off a panic run. The bridge was already overcrowded owing to sudden heavy rains that lashed the city on Fridayand many commuters had taken shelter there. Before the rescue teams arrived, cab drivers and others helped shift the injured in taxis and on two-wheelers.
