New Delhi, Oct 16: Why was Indian skipper Virat Kohli laughing after losing the Champions Trophy final to Pakistan at the Oval last year. Finally the secret is out. Pakistan's former captain Shoaib Malik has spilled the beans.Pakistan had crushed India by 180 runs in the final to win their first Champions Trophy. It was during the post match presentation after the victory that Malik was caught laughing with Yuvraj Singh and Virat. Malik has now recalled the incident in an interview.
“We were playing the Champions Trophy final against India and during the presentation, Yuvraj Singh, Virat Kohli and myself were laughing. We were discussing a catch and laughing,” Malik told the Voice of Cricket show.“I asked Ajmal ‘if you had positioned yourself to take the catch, why did you pull out at the last moment’? He said that he waited crouched on the ground to take the catch just in case you drop it,” Malik went to explain.Well for starters Malik was talking about a catch that was missed during the match between Pakistan and West Indies. Chris Gayle had hit the ball hard and it had gone high up in the air. Malik and Ajmal both went for the catch. When the ball was falling both backed, thinking that the other will catch. Eventually, the ball fell between them, and Gayle survived.News24 Bureau
