New Delhi, May 7: It is apparent that the Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi is all set to launch the Redmi S2 on May 10 but some new reports suggest that the company can launch a mid-range smartphone as well in the coming weeks. The upcoming smartphone has already been spotted on benchmarking website Geekbench, codenamed Valentino.
The most interesting thing that makes Xiaomi Valentino will be its processor, as per the benchmark listing, the Valentino is powered by Snapdragon 638 SoC which is yet to be announced by Qualcomm. The processor is powered by eight cores clocked at 1.44GHz. The chipset could be an improved version of the Snapdragon 636 SoC found in Redmi Note 5 Pro.
As per leaks till now, the Valentino could have 6GB of RAM, and run on Android 8.1 Oreo. The phone could be launched along with Redmi S2 on May 10.
As far as the Redmi S2 specifications are concerned it could feature a 5.99-inch HD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio. Redmi S2 could be powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC while we can expect variants with 2GB/ 3GB/ 4GB of RAM, 16GB/ 32GB/ 64GB inbuilt storage, and an Adreno 506 GPU
For photography, Redmi S2 is reported to sport a dual camera setup at back panel with 12MP+5MP cameras with LED flash while 16MP selfie camera on the front. The smartphone will be backed by a 3080 mAh battery and will run on MIUI on top of Android 8.1.0 Oreo.
