Lucknow, Jan 30: After Kasganj, now Congress President Rahul Gandhi's constituency Amethi has been hit by clashes. At least one person died and while five were injured in clashes between two groups in Jagdishpur municipality of Amethi. Heavy cpolice contingent has been deployed in the area to control the situation.
According to initial reports, the clash was a result of old family rivalry. The situation is tense after the clash and even the policemen at the spot were attacked initially. Shops in Amethi were closed after the clashes fearing a Kasganj like violence. Senior police officials have been put on alert to prevent the situation from deteriorating
The gangwar took place at around noon in which a local resident, Ashfaq, died on the spot after a bullet hit him. The injured were admitted to a nearby hospital
Following firing, angry villagers blocked roads and pelted stones on vehicles. Realising the senstivity of the situation, district collector Shakuntala Gautam and SP KK Gehlot rushed to the spot and tried to pacify the agitated villagers.
